So many people who want to get started in homesteading usually start with chickens. With many municipalities relaxing restrictions on poultry within city limits, urban and suburban neighborhoods are seeing an increase in backyard chickens.

The first question we are often asked is, “what breed of chicken should I get?”

There are many variables to this question, but we thought it would be useful to do a survey of people that are already familiar with chickens and get their advice.
